Dr. Çankaya completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. After graduation, he began his doctoral studies in the Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery at the same university in 2000. After receiving his doctorate title in 2006, he became an Associate Professor in 2012 and a Professor in 2021. He continues to hold his position at the same university. With multiple national and international publications, as well as serving as a section editor in SCI and SCI-expanded indexed journals, Dr. Çankaya, has also co-authored a book titled “The Art of Dental Suturing” with Prof.Dr. Korkud Demirel, which has already been translated into 3 languages. His areas of interest include bone management in pediatric oral surgery, maxillofacial traumatology and dental implantology.
Piezosurgery is a relatively new bone surgery technique that has recently gained popularity in implantology, periodontology and oral surgery. It is stated that piezosurgery provides an exact precise and safe cut and allows selective cutting of mineralized bone structures. Moreover, it is claimed that the device causes less bleeding during and after the operation and shortens reduces the healing timeprocess. Due to these indicated stated advantages, piezosurgery, which is a modification of the ultrasound device, will be assessed on different hands-on models to determine; wWhether it is a real alternative to traditional treatment methods in a wide variety of surgical procedures such as impacted tooth extraction, elevation of the Schneiderian membrane, bone block excision removal, expansion of the alveolar bone ridge expansion, bone sample harvestingcollection and/or corticotomy. will be evaluated by studying different hands-on models.
